Friendly Visiting

A Volunteer Companion Service

The Friendly Visiting Program is a volunteer companion service for persons 60 years of age or older within the community. All volunteers have had background checks and sign a confidentiality statement. Services are available in several counties. Please contact the coordinator in your county for more information.

Some of the services provided include:

  • Having an active listener
  • Having someone who understands
  • Having a trained individual help sort out situations that arise
  • Having someone trained in referral services

Peer Helpers

Sometimes you need someone who is understanding and has been trained to help you sort things out. Peer Helpers are not doctors, nurses, therapists or social workers. They are people just like you who have experienced some of the same things you have.

There's no need to go to an office or clinic. Peer Helpers will come to you at your home, the hospital, or another site. Volunteers do receive mileage reimbursement for traveling.

Experiencing:

  • Losing a spouse or friends?
  • Declining health?
  • Living on a fixed income?
  • Losing some of your independence?

How can we help?

A.C.E.'s trained Friendly Visiting Volunteers provide scheduled visits to adults age 60+ who are living independently and need companionship or someone to talk to. Volunteers are recruited from all walks of life. A commitment for helping others is the most important requirement for becoming a volunteer of our Friendly Visiting program.
